Our second summer club assignment had us hitting the beach
at the Grand
River Conservation Authority. Now being originally from this area, I am
somewhat embarrassed to say I have never been to Guelph Lake before… who knew
we had such a great beach area in our backyard! It was perfect for our beach
photo! Well almost perfect…
I will be the first to say I love hot & sunny summer
days, only problem is we haven’t had much (let’s be honest ANY) rain. Things
are really dry and farmers around here are worried about their crops. So it was
a big surprise when the dark clouds rolled in as we pulled into the beach area.
And wouldn’t you know it started to rain as soon as we got out of the car. Here
is where I found myself in a bit of a dilemma. As a farm girl, and knowin how
badly our crops at home needed a good rain, I was pretty excited but as a
photographer standing under a tree with a 2 ½ hour outdoor beach photo shoot ahead
of me in the rain, I was a little less than impressed. Oh the dilemma…Good news though, Mother Nature must be a photography fan, because after a 15 minute rain she was nice enough to stop the rain and warm the weather up a bit for our lovely models, who were brave enough to wear bathing suits (it did cool down quite a bit there). We ended up having an awesome night shooting, got some great photos and then got a much needed rain during the night.
Big thank you for the rain! Also big thanks to our amazing
models, you ladies are absolutely beautiful!
Our next assignment… think Grease Lightning!
